Women’s Health Conference 2009
This topic is very dear to me as part of my journey was losing
my mother to cancer. She died at 54 years old from breast and
ovarian cancer and that is not right. We women have accepted
that breast cancer, heart disease, ovarian cancer, and other
deadly diseases have a right to invade our body. We give them
that right when we acquiesce to the idea that “when I get the
disease, here is how I will fight it.”
I want to change the way women and girls think about illness,
disease, and fighting both. That is why I am planning the
Women’s Health Conference for 2009. At this conference,
women will teach other women how to change their beliefs about
disease and how it can infiltrate our bodies. Illness,
disease, and pain can only come in our bodies if we let it! So
let’s close the door and take away the welcome mat to disease in
our bodies.
